So, you’re looking to enjoy a more remote, solitary backcountry experience in the Grand Canyon? Well, our Grand Canyon Hermit Trail backpacking adventure is the trip for you! Join Kendrick and Mandy on a guided backpacking and camping trip to the depths of the Grand Canyon where we’ll spend five days and four nights surrounded by a natural beauty that most tourists can only dream of seeing!
Our route will take us along some of the Canyon’s more secluded trails as we journey to the Colorado River at the bottom. We’ll enjoy backcountry camping at its finest as we leave behind the crowds of the main corridor trails and seek solitude! Our first and last nights will be spent camping creek-side along the scenic Tonto Trail. Then we’ll enjoy two nights camped on the beach right next to the Colorado River! After a few peaceful nights by the river we’ll begin our 2-day journey back to the top with some of the best hiking Grand Canyon has to offer via the Hermit Trail.
This backpacking trip is perfect for hikers seeking a more remote trip in Grand Canyon. During our 5-day adventure we’ll experience breathtaking views, historic ruins, and even spend multiple nights camped at one of the most impressive set of rapids on the Colorado River. Our Hermit Trail itineraries will test your limits, but you’ll be rewarded with a Grand Canyon experience that few visitors get to enjoy. Including all optional hikes, we’ll ascend and descend almost 7,000 vertical feet while covering 25-30 miles over the course of 5 days. This may sound daunting, but with the right preparation most people can do this!
If you’re worried about this itinerary being too much then check out our itineraries on the Grand Canyon’s main corridor trails like our “Havasupai Garden and Plateau Point”, “Rim-to-River”, or “Rim-to-Rim” trips!
On this trip we will provide more services than your typical guided backpacking and camping experience. Our goal is to take people to a place they might not be able to reach on their own and share our knowledge and love of backpacking, hiking, and camping.

Hermit Trail: Grand Canyon
Lodging reservations on the South Rim (or in the nearby town of Tusayan) before/after the camping portion of this trip are the responsibility of each attendee. To ensure you have a place to stay, please make reservations when completing workshop registration to avoid places filling up.
We recommend arriving reasonably early the day before our hike begins and staying in accommodations in Grand Canyon Village or the nearby town of Tusayan for that night. This will allow us to meet with each client to review their backpacks and gear, as well as have a meet & greet with the entire group. We also recommend staying in either one of these locations on the night we exit our hike in the Canyon to avoid tight travel schedules.
